Bob The Bum

Listen to Bob The Bum, a favorite I didn’t want on the album originally. Lunar convinced me and he was right.
Boom Boom, Brain Damage, Mad Dog in the mountains, Labor Day 1980.

The lyrics to Bob The Bum are filled with alliteration, rhyming triplets and the smell of homeless angst. When the Ointment Project recorded BTB, we needed a prop for the short vignette that can be heard at the beginning of the song. What could duplicate the sound of rummaging through trash? We dragged in a couple of large metal trash cans from outside the studio, knocked them over and began recording. The producer and engineer were a little less than thrilled…(the take was good, though!) Mad Dog plays “Bob” and he gets to rummage thought the trash! Boom Boom was the cop who busts Bob, and Lunar Ray played the put-out neighbor.
