Hypnotized By Ice Cream

“All the strange, inexplicable, ineffable yet tony songs that wouldn’t fit on our first LP.”-Brain Damage

Liner notes with credits. Special thanks to Dave Schneider, bassist extraordinaire, and Bruce Grunow (R.I.P.) for his fiddle.

Hypnotized By Ice Cream was the sophomore effort by the band and was done in squirts and spurts until proper gooeyness was achieved. The bulk of it was recorded at OTR Studios in Belmont, south of San Francisco. The record was overseen by Cookie Morenco, the owner of the studio and supporter of our oddball music. Cookie’s resume is amazing: She has engineered or produced 5 Grammy-nominated records, several Gold records and an Academy Award-winning documentary, not to mention producing (uncredited) Squeez-A-Petey!

Our engineer was Randy Selgren, a quiet, unassuming guy who was a master of the mix. He had fun with us and still managed to get the songs on tape. That’s right, kids, 2″ analog tape, 24 track. Randy was so integral to the album, we presented him with a personalized O,P, Satin Tour Jacket.
