As things heated up, and the wheels of rock and roll kept turning, we lost another drummer. It was our own fault. We opened at the Rio for David LaFlamme from It’s A Beautiful Day. We put on a wild show, We played great. And then David La Flamme stole our drummer away. Well, to be fair, Dave went willingly as would have I. It was a cool opportunity for Dave.
But Teaser had a big gig at the local park in Benicia. At the gazebo, several acts were presented throughout the day, with our band closing the show. We only needed to play a 45 minutes set. We had no drummer. And we had less than two weeks.
Enter Dana Malta, who Howard and I had jammed with before. He was good to go, learning 7 originals and maybe 12 others, all in two weeks’ time. He did, and he played spectacularly. There’s no other way to frame it: Dana saved our ass..
